Kompolnas: Police Disclosure on Acid Attack Accountable
Metro Jaya Regional Police have revealed developments in the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus, including displaying the suspect’s face to the public. Kompolnas appreciates the Metro Jaya Police’s transparent and accountable investigation.
“One of the most important things is that we express our thanks for the accountability and process that has been carried out so far. Because from the beginning, from the first day this incident occurred, we communicated and coordinated with our police colleagues, particularly Metro Jaya Regional Police, so that the process would indeed be carried out transparently and accountably,” said Kompolnas Commissioner Choirul Anam or Cak Anam, at Metro Jaya Regional Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Wednesday (18/3/2026).
According to Cak Anam, the photo of the executor shown by Metro Jaya Police can be accounted for because it is based on CCTV. He views this work as openness to the public.
“As we can all see, the accountability and transparency are shown by playing the CCTV, displaying the CCTV capture, and showing whoever is behind it that was captured by CCTV,” he said.
The openness in handling the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus, according to him, can serve as an example for handling other cases. Thus, any suspected perpetrators who are proven by legal facts can be prosecuted.
“According to us, this is one of the important steps, as one of the role models for accountability and transparency. Therefore, let us all support together the transparent and accountable work by the police in revealing this case as clearly as possible, as thoroughly as possible, whoever is behind this incident, who when facing the law, the facts are strong, the evidence is strong, must be processed maximally,” he added.
Police Reveal Executor’s Face
The police previously reported developments in the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus. The police displayed photos of the perpetrators who carried out the acid attack on Andrie Yunus.
“This is the result of capturing images from the CCTV that we have obtained. We emphasise to all colleagues, this was not done with any changes or processing at all. Thus, we can account for this not being the result of artificial intelligence,” said the Director of Criminal Investigation at Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Iman Imannudin.
Meanwhile, the TNI’s Pushom has detained four TNI members suspected of carrying out the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. Pushom TNI has also examined the perpetrators.
“Carrying out activities to file a police report, perhaps later from the victim witness. Then carrying out temporary detention of the four suspects earlier,” said the Deputy Chief of Pushom TNI Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto in a press conference at TNI Headquarters, Jakarta, Wednesday (18/3).
