The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) has emphasised that the Metro Jaya Regional Police (Polda Metro Jaya) is handling the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus in an accountable and transparent manner.

Kompolnas Commissioner Choirul Anam stated that the commission is monitoring the investigation process being conducted by Polda Metro Jaya.

“I believe the most important aspect of the Metro Jaya Regional Police’s presentation yesterday, in which I was also involved, is that the (investigation) process has been accountable throughout,” Anam said in Jakarta on Thursday (19/3), as reported by Antara.

According to Anam, Polda Metro Jaya’s accountability is evident in their openness in demonstrating every stage of the case handling to the public.

From the investigation phase, the results obtained, to concrete evidence such as CCTV recordings and the initials of the perpetrators that have been publicised.

“So, what is the concrete form? CCTV footage and even initials of names. This is a very positive step in how the law enforcement process is proceeding,” he said.

All of these elements, according to Anam, are verifiable by all parties. Whether it is the CCTV footage, the number of points, or what happened in the incident, everything can be checked by the public.

“This is a positive step from Polda Metro Jaya that we need to support for the revelation of this case,” Anam stated.

Polda Metro Jaya previously revealed two initials of suspected perpetrators in the acid attack on KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus, namely BHC and MAK.

This was conveyed by the Director of General Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Pol Iman Imanuddin, during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/3).

Iman also said that based on the investigation results, it is possible that the number of perpetrators exceeds four people, according to statements from 15 witnesses who have been examined.

In addition, the Commander of the TNI Military Police Centre (Puspom) TNI, Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto, confirmed the detention of four TNI members suspected of being involved in this case.

The four members serve in the Headquarters Detachment of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (Denma BAIS) TNI with initials NDP, SL, BWH, and ES.
