Kompolnas Ensures Accountability of Metro Police in Investigating Andrie Yunus Case
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) has ensured that the Metro Jaya Regional Police is handling the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus in an accountable manner. Kompolnas Commissioner Choirul Anam stated that the commission is also monitoring the investigation process at Polda Metro Jaya. “I think the most important thing in the process presented by Polda Metro Jaya yesterday, and I was also involved there, is that the (investigation) process has been accountable so far,” Anam said when confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday. He explained that indicators of Polda Metro Jaya’s accountability in handling this case include demonstrating every process to the public, from the handling procedures shown, the results of the process shown, and even the concrete forms also shown. “Well, what is the concrete form? Yes, CCTV even up to the initials of the names. This is a very positive step in how the law enforcement process is conducted,” he said. Furthermore, he added, all these bases can be checked by all parties, including the CCTV footage, the number of points, and even what happened in the incident, all of which can be verified by the public. According to him, the law enforcement process for this case handled by Polda Metro Jaya is a positive step. “This is a positive step from Polda Metro Jaya that we need to support for the revelation of this case,” he said. “I think accountability is the key to how law enforcement is conducted,” Anam continued. Previously reported, Polda Metro Jaya revealed two initials of suspected perpetrators in the acid attack case against KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus. “When we inform that the two people we showed earlier from one Polri data, one initial BHC, and one initial MAK,” said the Director of Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner Pol Iman Imanuddin, during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/3). However, Iman explained that based on the investigation results, it does not rule out the possibility that the perpetrators number more than four people, as per the initial information provided and based on statements from several witnesses who have been questioned, namely 15 witnesses. In addition, TNI Military Police Centre Commander Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto stated that the TNI Military Police Centre has detained four TNI personnel for alleged involvement in the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus. The four individuals detained by the TNI Military Police Centre are TNI members serving at the Headquarters Detachment of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (Denma BAIS) TNI. The four suspects are initialled NDP, SL, BWH, and ES.
