Surabaya (ANTARA) - The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) has emphasised the importance of transparency in the recruitment of prospective cadets for the Police Academy (Akpol) at the East Java Regional Police (Polda Jatim), which involved 276 participants, to ensure the selection process runs accountably and free from cheating.

“Today, our team is at SMKN 5 Surabaya to directly observe the Akpol selection test. The spirit is accountability; there must be no cheating or legal violations in this process,” said Kompolnas Commissioner Mohammad Choirul Anam in Surabaya on Saturday.

He explained that the current Indonesian National Police (Polri) recruitment mechanism is participatory, involving both the public and the selection participants themselves as part of the oversight.

“Participatory means two contexts: involving the public such as psychology associations, and most importantly, the participants themselves as part of the oversight because the system is open,” Anam stated.

Anam also assured that all procedures are running according to regulations, from information openness to preventing potential cheating.

“We check whether participants receive sufficient information, then ensure no electronic devices are brought in. Everything is stored in one place that can be viewed together as an effort to close cheating opportunities to zero percent,” he said.

In addition, test results can be immediately known to participants after the exam is finished, thus maintaining transparency further.

“After the exam, results can be seen directly. If there are complaints, participants can immediately report to the committee,” Anam added.

He also reminded the public not to trust parties promising graduation in exchange for certain payments.

“If anyone promises to pass you to become a Polri member by asking for money, don’t believe it. We would actually appreciate it if such matters are reported,” he said.

According to him, the quality of recruitment will determine the future quality of the Polri institution.

“The future of this rule of law state is determined by the quality of policing. Good policing starts from a good recruitment process, with quality individuals,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Human Resources Bureau (Karo SDM) of Polda Jatim, Senior Commissioner Pol Sih Harno, stated that the psychology test for prospective Akpol cadets was attended by 276 participants and is the initial part of the 2026 Polri member admission selection series.

“The test implementation is done in one day today, then continued with the next stages for Non-Commissioned Officers and Enlisted Personnel,” Sih Harno said.

The selection process is not only internally supervised by the Regional Supervisory Inspectorate (Itwasda), Professional and Security Division (Propam), and psychology team, but also involves external oversight from Kompolnas.

“We also received a visit from Kompolnas, in addition to internal supervision by Itwasda, Propam, and the psychology team. The hope is that today’s test runs well because Polri recruitment adheres to the BETAH principle, namely clean, transparent, accountable, and humane,” Sih Harno said.
