The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) has officially commenced the Kompolnas Awards 2026 series as a form of appreciation for Indonesian National Police (Polri) working units deemed to have achieved the best performance in providing services to the community. This annual awards programme is expected not only to honour high-achieving police ranks but also to drive improvements in the quality of public services throughout the Polri institution.

Kompolnas Commissioner and Chairperson of the Kompolnes Awards 2026 Committee, Inspector General (Ret.) Ida Oetari Poernamasasi, stated that the awards are designed to encourage a professional work culture through the implementation of best practices within the police environment. “The hope is that it can motivate other working units through the application of best practices so that all ranks of Polri can continuously improve their performance,” Ida said at the Kompolnas Building, South Jakarta, on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.

Response to Complaints as Primary Assessment Metric

In the execution of the Kompolnas Awards 2026, one of the critical aspects under primary focus is the response of police working units to public complaints. Kompolnas will assess how each unit responds to incoming reports or grievances, including the speed and quality of the subsequent follow-up actions. According to Ida, this aspect is a vital indicator as it directly relates to the quality of public service and the level of community trust in the police institution.

In addition to conducting assessments based on administrative data, Kompolnas will also perform field visits to the top nominees to ensure that on-the-ground conditions align with the submitted data. “We want to ensure that the data we assess in the initial stage is truly reflected in the execution of duties in the field. Therefore, the jury team will conduct direct visits to the best nominees,” she added.

Utilising the 5P Assessment Indicators

In this year’s selection process, Kompolnas is utilising five main indicators, known as the “5P” concept, as the basis for assessment. These five indicators include:

  • Prosperity

  • Planet

  • People

  • Partnership

  • Peace

Through these indicators, Kompolnas aims to assess not only administrative and operational aspects but also the impact of policing services on the community and the surrounding environment. This approach is expected to provide a more comprehensive and objective assessment system.
