A survey conducted by Litbang Kompas on public perception and performance evaluation of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) for the second quarter of 2026 recorded an increase in public trust to 82.4 percent. This rise in trust was accompanied by improvements in several indicators of public assessment of the institution. According to the survey release received in Jakarta on Friday, the positive image of Polri rose from 64.5 percent in 2025 to 71.5 percent in 2026. Meanwhile, public satisfaction with police services increased from 65.3 percent to 67.6 percent. The survey also showed an increase in public assessment of the professionalism of police services. The professionalism score rose from 7.78 the previous year to 8.33, based on an average index of 20 service aspects experienced by respondents who had direct contact with the police, such as processing police documents, administrative services, and security and patrol activities. Litbang Kompas attributed the improvement in Polri’s positive image to the increasing involvement of police personnel as the frontline of public service in the field. Additionally, 80 percent of respondents stated that service facilities at police stations are now comfortable. Overall, 80.6 percent of respondents also assessed that Polri’s performance is better compared to the previous year. The Public Perception and Polri Performance Evaluation Survey for the second quarter of 2026 was conducted by Litbang Kompas from 9 to 18 April 2026 through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 respondents across 38 provinces. Sampling was carried out randomly using a multistage systematic sampling method with a 95 percent confidence level and a margin of error of 2.83 percent.
