Kompas R&D Survey: Public Trust and Satisfaction in National Police Rise
The Indonesian National Police (Polri) institution is showing a positive trend in the latest Kompas Research and Development Survey. The level of public trust, public satisfaction, and the image of Polri according to the survey have all increased. The survey recorded that public trust in Polri rose to 82.4 per cent, up from 76.2 per cent in 2025. Meanwhile, the level of public satisfaction with Polri services rose to 67.6 per cent, compared to 65.1 per cent the previous year. The institutional image of Polri also rose significantly to 71.5 per cent from 64.4 per cent the year before. According to the survey, this increase in Polri’s positive image is linked to the extensive involvement of its members as the frontline apparatus of the state’s Bhayangkara force in the field. The survey was conducted from 9 to 18 April 2026, using face-to-face interviews with 1,200 respondents. Sampling was carried out randomly using a multistage systematic sampling method across 38 provinces, with a margin of error of 2.83 per cent and a confidence level of 95 per cent. Kompas Research and Development also asked for assessments from respondents who had previously interacted with Polri. The results showed that the professionalism performance score of Polri rose from 7.76 to 8.37. This assessment was derived from the average index of 20 aspects from respondents who had dealt with Polri, such as document processing. Additionally, 80 per cent of respondents stated that service facilities at police stations are now comfortable. This significant increase in trust places Polri among the top five state institutions trusted by the public. In fact, according to the survey, the level of trust in Polri is acknowledged by the public to be relatively higher than that of other law enforcement agencies such as the Attorney General’s Office, the Supreme Court, and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
