Kompas Poll: Public Trust in National Police Rises to 82.4%
The National Police (Polri) institution is showing a positive trend in the latest Kompas Research and Development Survey. The level of public trust in Polri, according to the survey, has risen significantly. The Kompas survey recorded public trust in Polri increasing to 82.4%. Previously in 2025, public trust in Polri stood at 76.2%. The survey was conducted from 9 to 18 April 2026. The method involved face-to-face interviews with 1,200 respondents. Sampling was carried out randomly using a multistage systematic sampling method across 38 provinces. The margin of error is 2.83% with a 95% confidence level. Respondents were asked: In general, are you confident or not that Polri’s performance will improve in the future? The results showed 82.4% of respondents answered confident, 12.1% answered not confident, and 5.5% answered do not know. The survey results indicate that the public believes the Polri institution can improve in the future. Furthermore, the institutional image of Polri also rose significantly to 71.5% from the previous year’s figure of 64.4%. According to the Kompas survey, this increase in Polri’s positive image is linked to the extensive involvement of its members as the frontline apparatus of the state’s Bhayangkara force in the field. The survey also assessed respondents who had interacted with Polri. The score for Polri’s professionalism performance rose from a previous 7.76% to 8.37%. This assessment of service professionalism was derived from an average index of 20 aspects from respondents who had dealt with Polri, such as document processing. Additionally, 80% of respondents stated that service facilities at police stations are now comfortable. This significant increase in trust places Polri among the top five trusted state institutions. In fact, according to the Kompas survey, the level of trust in Polri is relatively higher than that of other law enforcement agencies such as the Attorney General’s Office, the Supreme Court, and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
