Komnas Hopes Synergy in Violence Against Women Data Will Form Basis of Policy

The National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan) hopes that the synergy of the database on violence against women can become the basis for evidence-based policymaking.

“So that this data becomes the basis for evidence-based policymaking, strengthens cross-sector coordination, improves service quality, and encourages state accountability in fulfilling women’s rights,” said Komnas Perempuan Chairperson Maria Ulfah Anshor while opening the event “Launch of the 2025 Violence Against Women Data Synergy Report by KemenPPPA, Komnas Perempuan, and the Forum Pengada Layanan (FPL)” in Jakarta on Thursday.

According to her, the creation of the database synergy shows that strengthening data cannot be done individually, but requires cross-institutional collaboration that complements one another.

The advantage of this database synergy is that it makes it easier to access data and ensures that policymakers do not miscalculate.

“So far, each of us has had our own data, while we often had to guess which data was valid and which overlapped. But with the data synergy, thank God, at least three institutions for complaint service data on violence against women have now been unified in this data synergy,” said Maria Ulfah Anshor.

The launch event is the second period of the continued cooperation between KemenPPPA, Komnas Perempuan, and the Forum Pengada Layanan (FPL) regarding the synergy of the violence against women database.

“So this is the second period. The three institutions are committed to integrating the documentation system for cases of violence against women using the CEDAW framework, human rights principles, and national laws and regulations as a common reference in recording, analysing, and utilising the data we have,” said Maria Ulfah Anshor.

The 2025 violence against women database synergy report not only contains statistical figures and tables, but also maps trends, patterns, characteristics of victims and perpetrators, forms of violence, domains of violence, as well as service and recovery needs of victims throughout 2025.
