Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) has written to the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) to examine four suspects allegedly involved in the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. “We are still waiting; we have sent a letter to the TNI to gain access to question the four people (suspects),” said Komnas HAM Monitoring and Investigation Commissioner Saurlin P. Siagian in an interview at the Komnas HAM building in Jakarta on Wednesday. The step of directly questioning the suspects allegedly involved is to delve deeper into new facts and provide comparative data on information already obtained from various parties. On the same occasion, Komnas HAM Subcommission Coordinator for Human Rights Enforcement Pramono Ubaid Tanthowi explained that Komnas HAM had also summoned the TNI Military Police Centre (Puspom) on Wednesday (1/4) to coordinate on the case’s developments. “So, when we requested information from the TNI last week on Wednesday (1/4). One of the things we requested is for the investigation process at Puspom to proceed transparently. We requested three things, one of which is for Komnas HAM to be given access to meet the four perpetrators. That’s what we are currently coordinating,” he said. According to Pramono, Komnas HAM continues to request that the examination be conducted on Friday (10/4) and is still awaiting approval from the TNI Puspom side. “We requested it for tomorrow Friday (10/4), but we are waiting for approval from the Puspom side,” he added. To meet civil society’s demands for a general trial, Komnas HAM is working to investigate allegations of involvement by other parties besides the four alleged suspects currently detained by the TNI. “Yes, we have received that information. However, we still believe that beyond these four people, there are other parties, so we are still investigating that. That means if there are, it opens the possibility for another trial,” said Pramono.
