Commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM), Saurlin P. Siagian, stated that his organisation has written to the TNI headquarters to enable the examination of four members claimed to be the attackers of KontraS activist Andrie Yunus.

Saurlin made this statement after seeking information from the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS) and Andrie Yunus’s legal representatives at the Komnas HAM office in Jakarta on Wednesday, 8 April 2026.

Komnas HAM will cross-check evidence obtained from the meeting with KontraS with the TNI. “We have submitted a letter to the TNI to obtain access to examine the four individuals,” said Saurlin.

According to Saurlin, Komnas HAM will not limit itself to the four perpetrators released by the TNI. He suspects indications of other perpetrators in this case.

“Our focus is to seek information regarding the involvement of other parties besides the four individuals who have currently been designated as suspects,” said Saurlin.

Saurlin emphasised that Komnas HAM will ensure that whoever is involved in the acid-throwing incident against Andrie Yunus is held accountable. “We are not limiting ourselves to these four individuals, but we want to see if there are other parties who should also be held accountable,” he said.

In addition to investigating suspicions of more than four perpetrators’ involvement, Saurlin is exploring the possibility of the Andrie Yunus case being tried outside military courts.

Yesterday, the Military Police Centre at TNI Headquarters stated that it had handed over the case files of the four suspects in the planned attempted murder case against activist Andrie Yunus.

Head of TNI Headquarters Information Centre, Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, said that the file handover process was completed by investigators to the Military Prosecutor on Tuesday, 7 April 2026. “The handover of the case files, suspects, and evidence of criminal acts has been submitted to Otmil II-07 Jakarta, for further examination of the completeness of formal and material requirements,” said Aulia in a written statement on Tuesday, 7 April 2026.

He continued that if the files are deemed complete, the legal process will proceed to the Military Court II-08 Jakarta. “The suspects handed over are four with initials NDP, SL, BHW, and ES along with evidence,” stated Aulia.

Aulia claimed that this file handover demonstrates the TNI’s commitment to professional, transparent, and accountable law enforcement. “And as a manifestation of firmness in addressing every criminal act committed by TNI soldiers,” he said.

TNI Military Police Centre Commander, Major General Yusri Nuryanto, stated that the four perpetrators are members of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS). He identified them by initials NDP, SL, BWH, and ES. According to Yusri, the personnel have detained the four suspects at the military detention facility Pomdam Jaya Guntur since 18 March 2026.
