Komnas HAM Visits Andrie Yunus at RSCM from Behind the Window

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Three leaders of Komnas HAM visited Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, Andrie Yunus, at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), Central Jakarta, on Thursday (26/3/2026). The three were Komnas HAM Chair Anis Hidayah, Commissioner Pramono Ubaid Tanthowi, and Commissioner Saurlin Siagian. “We will visit the victim but not directly, but through the window because we respect the protocols in place at RSCM,” said Anis Hidayah to reporters. “But after this, we will meet indirectly with the victim to ensure the condition of the person concerned,” she continued. Based on information from the medical team, Andrie Yunus is still undergoing intensive care after suffering burns covering about 20 percent due to being doused with acid. Several follow-up surgeries will be performed to restore his condition. “The operations will continue, and will last six months to two years ahead for 100 percent recovery of his burns,” said Saurlin Siagian. He also confirmed that the victim’s treatment costs are covered by BPJS. “Then, we received confirmation that the financing, alhamdulillah, is covered by BPJS,” he added. The acid attack case against Andrie Yunus has now entered a new phase after four personnel from the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) were secured in connection with alleged involvement in the incident. This development also led to the resignation of TNI BAIS Head Yudi Abrimantyo as a form of accountability. The step was taken amid public spotlight on the handling of the case involving military apparatus. The acid dousing incident against Andrie Yunus occurred on Thursday night (12/3/2026). KontraS Working Body Coordinator Dimas Bagus Arya explained that the incident began after Andrie finished recording a podcast at the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation, Menteng.
