Komnas HAM to soon summon TNI regarding Andrie Yunus case

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Monitoring and Investigation Commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission Saurlin P. Siagian stated that his institution will soon summon TNI representatives to complete the existing facts related to the acid splashing incident against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus on Thursday night (12/3). “We will continue to monitor this case and in the near future we will summon TNI representatives,” he said in an interview at the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) building in Jakarta on Monday. Saurlin conveyed that Komnas HAM requires statements from several parties, including TNI, to formulate recommendations on the case. In the summoning, he said, Komnas HAM is preparing a number of questions related to the involvement of TNI personnel in the case. “We will focus on the questions we have designed for TNI representatives,” he stated. According to Saurlin, the deadline for investigating the acid splashing case against Andrie Yunus is nearing completion, and Komnas HAM will summon experts and the victim for statements. “I think it won’t be long, not much. The parties we want to question are not many anymore. TNI representatives, then experts, and possibly some victims or victim witnesses, for example,” he explained. Previously, Komnas HAM had also requested information from Metro Jaya Police for three hours. The information was provided by the Director of Reskrimum of Metro Jaya Police and attended by several police officials. Komnas HAM, Saurlin said, provided 15 questions with nine written questions to Metro Jaya Police. “There are about nine written ones, but besides the written ones, we asked a lot more. That’s why it took about three hours,” he added.
