Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) has revealed several new findings in the case of the acid attack on human rights activist Andrie Yunus.

Komnas HAM Monitoring and Investigation Commissioner Saurlin P Siagian stated that these findings were obtained from examinations of eight parties, as well as analyses of surveillance camera recordings or CCTV and communication data.

“Based on the results of the analysis and evidence in the form of CCTV recordings, cellular analysis results from the police, technology used by the police to access conversations from BTS (Base Transceiver Station), and witness statements, Komnas HAM concludes that based on cluster analysis of CCTV recordings, at least 14 people are interconnected around the YLBHI (Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation) office in Central Jakarta,” he said during a press conference on developments in the Andrie Yunus case in Jakarta on Monday.

In addition, according to him, there are more than five other unidentified individuals at the location with suspicious activities, as well as suspicions of involvement by other perpetrators not present at the scene.

Komnas HAM also found indications of the use of fake identities in phone number registrations, which were activated only one to two days before the incident.

“It is strongly suspected that the perpetrators used other identities to register their mobile phone numbers, including using the name of a five-year-old child, a housewife, and an elderly person to conceal their identities,” said Saurlin.

Other findings, according to him, show links in the perpetrators’ movements to a location suspected to be the starting point of activities before the incident.

Additionally, the perpetrators are suspected of carrying suspicious items such as plastic containing liquid and certain devices, and they continued to follow the victim after the incident.

Komnas HAM assesses that this series of findings indicates a strong pattern of coordination, thus requiring further investigation by law enforcement authorities.

Comprehensive disclosure efforts are deemed important to ensure that all involved parties can be identified and processed according to the law.
