Komnas HAM Reveals Movements of 14 Suspected Individuals Involved in Andrie Yunus Case
Komnas HAM has revealed findings of 14 individuals suspected of involvement in the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus last March. The dozen perpetrators were known to communicate with each other in the field, conducting surveillance and carrying out the dousing.
Komnas HAM Monitoring and Investigation Commissioner Saurlin P Siagian stated that the findings were based on CCTV recordings, police analysis results, and statements from several parties.
“Based on analysis results and evidence in the form of CCTV recordings, police cell dump analysis, police technology used to access conversations from BTS, and witness statements,” said Saurlin during a press conference on Monday (27/4/2026).
“Based on CCTV recording clusters, there are at least 14 people connected to each other around the YLBHI Foundation in Central Jakarta. We also found at least more than five other unidentified persons (OTK) at that location engaging in suspicious activities,” he added.
Saurlin mentioned three suspected perpetrators who were not at the scene. Meanwhile, two individuals acted as the acid dousers on Andrie.
“Suspected involvement of at least three other perpetrators who were not at the scene. Then two executor perpetrators have the potential to be quickly identified directly due to acid attack injuries, as both were also splashed,” he said.
Komnas HAM also confirmed that one perpetrator with initials BHWC, a TNI soldier, was monitored travelling to and from a house designated for TNI BAIS at the time of the attack.
“Komnas HAM also confirms that perpetrator BHWC travelled to and from a house on Jalan Panglima Polim, which is a Kemhan asset designated for BAIS,” he said.
Chronology of Movements of 14 Suspected Perpetrators
Saurlin said that suspected perpetrator 5 followed suspected perpetrator 1, who was riding tandem with suspected perpetrator 2, from Jalan Panglima Polim to Jalan Jenderal Sudirman.
“And then if we look at this photo, suspected perpetrator 5 appears at the YLBHI office. Then suspected perpetrators 1 and 2, as well as 3 and 4, joined suspected perpetrator 5 and suspected perpetrator 14. They then discussed right in front of the YLBHI office. Well, then we see in the photo they are gathered, meaning they must be talking, communicating with each other,” Saurlin continued.
The suspected perpetrators were observed gathering at Taman Diponegoro, Menteng, Central Jakarta. Ten suspected perpetrators gathered at that point on the night of the attack.
“Well, here around 20:54, the suspected perpetrators moved to Taman Diponegoro. At this location, other suspected perpetrators first joined, which we call TP (suspected perpetrator) 11, 12, and 13 with suspected perpetrators 3, 4, 5. We identify them in such a way because they have different clothes and different faces as well. Once again, I emphasise that it must be investigated further based on the numbers they hold,” said Saurlin.
“Then suspected perpetrators 6 and 7 joined at Taman Diponegoro carrying a white plastic bag. Then perpetrators 1 and 2 joined across from Taman Diponegoro and sat on a bench in front of RSCM Kencana,” he added.
Suspected perpetrator 10 was then observed arriving and calling suspected perpetrator 2.
“Then suspected perpetrator 10, a different person, then called them; perpetrator 2 crossed the road and the two talked in front of Taman Diponegoro after crossing,” he said.
Saurlin said there was a suspected perpetrator who also used a car. The car stopped on Jalan Diponegoro, and suspected perpetrators appeared to exit from that vehicle.
“Well, this is one car that stopped which we suspect was also used by the suspected perpetrator in this car. Because people got out of the car in question. Similarly, we suspect this car was used by suspected perpetrators because several people got out of this car and met with the other suspected perpetrators,” he said.
