Komnas HAM Has Yet to Conclude Whether Andrie Yunus Case Constitutes Gross Human Rights Violation
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM), Pramono Ubaid Tanthowi, stated that his organisation cannot yet confirm whether the acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, constitutes a gross human rights violation or not.
Pramono said the status of the Andrie Yunus case will only be decided after a comprehensive process of gathering information.
“The conclusion on whether this is proven to be a human rights violation or not will be decided after we complete the process of collecting statements, information, and data from various parties,” Pramono said at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), Central Jakarta, on Thursday (26/3/2026).
On Thursday, Komnas HAM visited RSCM to gather information from hospital management and the medical team treating Andrie Yunus.
Komnas HAM sought statements regarding Andrie’s condition from his initial admission to the hospital up to the latest medical interventions performed at RSCM.
“We want to understand the steps taken by the medical team from the beginning until the end, and what the future treatment plans will be,” Pramono explained.
In the coming days, Komnas HAM will also request statements from several other parties besides RSCM. However, Pramono declined to reveal which parties will be questioned by Komnas HAM.
The parties to be questioned will be summoned directly to the Komnas HAM office.
“But we cannot mention the parties yet,” Pramono said.
When asked whether former Head of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS), Lieutenant General Yudi Abrimantyo, who recently stepped down, will be summoned, Pramono remained reluctant to provide details.
He also refrained from confirming whether TNI Chief General Agus Subiyanto will be summoned by Komnas HAM.
“Just wait for the information later. We will certainly inform colleagues if we invite any party to Komnas HAM,” Pramono stated.
He added that, besides RSCM, Komnas HAM has already requested statements from KontraS. From KontraS, Komnas HAM gathered the chronology of the acid attack incident up to when Andrie Yunus was brought to RSCM.
Previously, the acid attack on Andrie Yunus occurred on Thursday night (12/3/2026). Andrie is suspected of being attacked by two unidentified individuals while on his way home.
