Komnas HAM Considers Forming TGPF for Andrie Yunus Case
The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) is drafting several crucial recommendations regarding the thorough investigation of the acid attack terror case against Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of KontraS.
In determining future law enforcement steps, Komnas HAM Commissioner Saurlin P Siagian stated that they have many ideal options under in-depth discussion.
“There are many other choices as well, such as the formation of a TGPF (Joint Fact-Finding Team), or connectivity [trials] for example,” said Saurlin at the Komnas HAM office in Central Jakarta on Monday (30/3).
Additionally, the initiative to push for this case to be tried in a general court is one of the main focuses to achieve legal transparency.
Regarding these public demands, Saurlin explained that they will refine all statements before making a final decision.
“Of course there are many scenarios; a general court is one of the ideal ones, but we must discuss it. And there are many other choices, but we must first discuss what the final recommendation from Komnas HAM will be,” said Saurlin.
The formation of the TGPF is considered very important as a form of security guarantee for civil society and activists in the future. Therefore, Saurlin stated that Komnas HAM will comprehensively deliberate this scenario proposal.
“We will meet to discuss it, but I mention there are several ideal scenarios to ensure for us in civil society and democratic institutions; we want to make sure such incidents do not happen again in the future,” said Saurlin.
