Komnas HAM Checks Andrie Yunus's Condition at RSCM, Obtains Medical Facts on Impact of Acid Attack
The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) visited Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) to directly monitor the health condition of KontraS Deputy Coordinator, Andrie Yunus (AY), on Thursday (26/3/2026).
Komnas HAM Chair, Anis Hidayah, stated that they had received information from the specialist medical team handling the burn and eye injury victim.
“We received very comprehensive information from RSCM. We were received by the medical director and the handling team, including eye doctors and those treating burns, as well as other support teams,” said Anis.
Anis explained that this medical data is crucial for Komnas HAM in compiling an analysis of the human rights violations that occurred. She said the investigation focus is not only on physical injuries but also on the long-term psychological impacts experienced by Andrie Yunus due to the acid attack.
“The information is very in-depth as needed by Komnas HAM regarding the medical and psychological impacts from the incident of pouring strong acid chemical on Brother AY,” she added.
Although they have obtained details of the victim’s clinical condition, Anis said Komnas HAM cannot yet disclose these findings to the public in the near term. All this medical evidence will be attached to other field findings to compile official recommendations regarding the resolution of this case.
“This information is very much needed for us to later conduct an analysis based on the facts obtained to prepare recommendations related to this case. Regarding the detailed material, we cannot convey it now because it will be compiled in a separate recommendation,” Anis concluded.
The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) guarantees all medical treatment and recovery costs for Andrie Yunus.
Komnas HAM strongly condemns the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus, who is still undergoing intensive treatment at RSCM Jakarta.
Komnas HAM also highlights the position of the Indonesian National Police, which is often in a dilemmatic situation.
