Jakarta (ANTARA) – The National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan) said that gender-based violence against women in 2025 rose by 14.07 per cent, reaching a total of 376,529 cases.

‘Data on gender-based violence against women in the 2025 Annual Report generally increased by 14.07 per cent, with a total of 376,529 cases,’ said Komnas Perempuan Chair Maria Ulfah Anshor in Jakarta on Friday.

The data are grouped into three categories based on the stages of case handling: reporting, prosecution, and decision.

The largest number of gender-based violence cases against women originated from decisions by the Religious Court (Badilag) with 321,726 cases.

Next, reporting data came from government agencies 35,589 cases, community-based organisations 10,348 cases, and Komnas Perempuan 3,682 cases.

Meanwhile, the number of complaints of gender-based violence cases received by Komnas Perempuan during 2025 rose by 10 per cent to 4,597 cases.

‘During responding to these complaints, Komnas Perempuan handles around 19 cases per day on average,’ said Maria Ulfah Anshor.

The data collected in Komnas Perempuan’s 2025 Annual Report involved 97 institutions.

The data in the Annual Report of Komnas Perempuan contain a compilation of violence cases handled by various service bodies for female victims of violence, both government-run and community-formed.
