Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Judicial Commission has highly commended the achievements of the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office and the Forest Area Enforcement Task Force during the first two years of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice-President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s leadership in investigating and bringing illegal use of forest areas under control.

Judicial Commission chair Professor Pujiyono Suwandi said in Jakarta on Monday that, since its establishment in February 2025, the task force had recorded concrete results through October 2026, reclaiming more than 6.2 million hectares of forest land in the palm oil plantation sector.

The task force has also transferred more than Rp13.24 trillion in non-tax state revenue (PNBP) to the state treasury through the Ministry of Finance.

“These achievements deserve recognition. They demonstrate the state’s resolve and presence in bringing forest areas under control, and the President’s support has played a significant role in this success,” Pujiyono said.

While commending these results, the Judicial Commission said it remained committed to ensuring that they had been achieved through transparent and accountable legal processes.

Pujiyono highlighted several key areas of oversight, including ensuring that prosecutors enforce the law professionally, without conflicts of interest and without selective treatment.

He added that the collection of administrative fines and the transfer of funds to the state treasury must be open to scrutiny and publicly auditable.

“We stress that major results must be achieved accountably. The rights of small communities and plasma smallholders must continue to be protected through procedures that provide legal certainty,” he said.

The commission also noted that physically taking control of illegally occupied land was only half the work of enforcement.

The next crucial step, Pujiyono said, was to ensure that reclaimed land was genuinely restored and managed productively in accordance with its designated purpose.

He said the commission was ready to receive feedback and complaints from the public regarding the conduct of prosecutors serving in the task force, to help safeguard the integrity and effective work of law enforcement officials in the field.

“The Judicial Commission is ready to receive public complaints concerning prosecutors’ conduct in this enforcement operation. We fully support the task force and will oversee the process to ensure it is clean, transparent and fair,” he said.
