Komdigi Warns TikTok and Roblox to Immediately Restrict Accounts for Children Under 16
Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid has sent warning letters to TikTok and Roblox. The warning letters were issued because both are considered not yet fully compliant with the PP Tunas regulations, despite making efforts or being cooperative. “If subsequently these two platforms do not demonstrate full compliance, the government will also adjust by issuing summons letters to the two platforms,” said Meutya in an official statement received by KompasTekno on Tuesday (31/3/2026). PP Tunas, or Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic System Operators in Child Protection, has been officially in effect since 28 March. In a press conference on 27 March, or one day before PP Tunas took effect, the Menkomdigi stated that TikTok and Roblox are in “partial cooperative” status. This means both have committed but have not yet fully implemented the regulations. TikTok previously stated that they will commit to complying with the PP Tunas regulations. “Including taking compliance steps related to teenage accounts under 16 years old after the self-assessment process, and through close consultation with the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi),” said TikTok on their official page. “We also use the most innovative technology to detect accounts that violate age limit policies, and suspend accounts identified as non-compliant,” added TikTok. They also hope that these regulations will be applied fairly and consistently to all social media platforms. Meanwhile, for Roblox, Komdigi said that the platform plans to restrict children’s access to online features. “Roblox conveyed plans to adjust features for users under 13 years old who can only play offline,” said Meutya during a press conference at the Komdigi Office in Jakarta on Friday (27/3/2026). “The submission to our team is temporary and still ongoing, that possibly for certain ages below, the online aspect will be turned off,” said Meutya.
