JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) is urging digital platforms TikTok and Roblox to promptly comply with policies restricting access for users under 16 years old. “We previously issued a warning to TikTok. So this is not an inspection, but a warning to TikTok and Roblox, which had shown partial compliance, to fully meet their obligations,” stated Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid on Thursday (9/4/2026). According to Meutya, the government is still awaiting action plans from TikTok and Roblox regarding concrete steps they will take to fulfil child protection obligations in the digital realm. “We are still waiting because we requested time until the 10th, which is tomorrow, for them to then submit their action plans,” she said. “As of today, we see that Meta has officially updated its community guidelines, setting a minimum age limit of 16 years across all its platforms, namely Instagram, Facebook, and Threads. This has also been conveyed through an official letter we received,” she added. This compliance step follows an inspection process that took place earlier in the week. Thus, the government assesses that the requested compliance requirements have been met. Nevertheless, the Ministry of Communication and Digital emphasises that the implementation of these policies will continue to be monitored on an ongoing basis. Meta is said to be implementing compliance gradually to ensure all features operate in accordance with applicable rules. “We have informed Meta that we will follow this compliance with supervision,” she said.
