Badung (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has assured that it will evaluate mobile operators caught still activating cellular data services during Nyepi Day in Bali. “This will be noted for evaluation, and it can be evaluated for the next Nyepi,” said Komdigi Minister Meutya Hafid in Badung Regency, Bali, on Tuesday. The Minister conveyed this to respond to information about cellular data services that were still active and used by the public on Thursday (19/3). However, according to the agreement between the ministry and the local government, mobile phone internet packages should be off except at vital objects. Yet, when questioned about the emergence of live broadcasts on roads or outside homes on social media during Nyepi, Meutya assessed that an evaluation is indeed necessary. One of the evaluations involves looking at the distance of residents’ homes that still receive cellular data services from vital objects such as hospitals or police offices. This is because there is potential that it is not the mobile operators who failed to turn off their networks, but rather the residents’ homes that are still within the radius of vital objects.
