Komdigi Reveals Only Roblox and YouTube Yet to Comply with PP Tunas on Age Restrictions

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) of the Republic of Indonesia, Meutya Hafid, stated that only two digital platforms remain that have not complied with the policy restricting access for users under 16 years old. The user access restriction is part of the implementation of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic System Operators in Child Protection (PP TUNAS). “We will continue to communicate, both formally and informally in discussions regarding features, with the two platforms that have not yet complied, namely Roblox and YouTube,” said Meutya during a press conference at the Komdigi Office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (14/4/2026). Meutya explained that the compliance of these six digital platforms marks an initial victory for the Indonesian public, particularly for the 70 million children under 16. Regarding Roblox, Meutya noted that the platform, at its global headquarters in the United States, has made setting adjustments. “This is a new feature for Roblox worldwide as part of compliance with social media bans or delays for children entering social media and games,” she said. Although it is a global policy, Komdigi still reminds Roblox to follow the applicable rules in Indonesia through PP TUNAS. In addition to issuing reprimands, Komdigi also urges all other digital platforms to ensure compliance with PP TUNAS promptly. The government requests that each platform submit implementation plans for the policy and report the results of independent risk profile assessments no later than three months. The eight platforms in the initial phase of PP TUNAS implementation include Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X, Bigo Live, YouTube, TikTok, and Roblox.
