Komdigi Must Be Firmer in Tackling Hoaxes and Disinformation on Social Media
The Secretary-General of Pasbata, Sri Budianto, has urged the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) to increase its firmness in safeguarding the national digital space. He was responding to the rampant spread of hoaxes, disinformation, slander, and narrative warfare on social media, which has reached an alarming level. Budi assessed that if left unchecked, this condition could potentially disrupt national unity. According to him, the state must not allow the digital space to be filled with information that is deliberately twisted, manipulated, or disseminated without a clear basis. “We urge Komdigi to act more firmly. Digital patrols must be strengthened and carried out consistently. Indonesia’s digital space must not be allowed to become a breeding ground for hoaxes, slander, and propaganda that misleads the public,” Budi said in Jakarta on Monday (3/8/2026).
