Komdigi Ministry urges women to become agents of change in digital transformation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Human Resource Development Agency (BPSDM) of the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi), Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, stated that women need to take on a significant role as agents of change in the national digital transformation.
According to him, current technological developments have opened up increasingly wide opportunities for women not only as internet users but also as creators, innovators, and leaders in the digital era.
“Technological developments have actually opened up increasingly wide spaces for women to create. Thus, the digital space is no longer just a place for interaction, but also a productive space,” said Bonifasius in Central Jakarta on Monday.
He highlighted that although the number of women connected to the internet continues to increase, there is still a gender gap in digital access.
“The gender gap in the world is still at 0.92 and has not changed since 2019. This data shows that gender-based digital access gaps remain a real challenge that we must address together,” said Bonifasius.
Regarding child protection in the digital space, the government has issued Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic System Operators in Child Protection (PP Tunas).
The government has also issued Ministerial Regulation of Communication and Digital No. 9 of 2026 as a derivative regulation of PP Tunas to strengthen child protection in the digital space.
He added that women can contribute by producing creative, educational, and responsible digital content, while also helping to protect children and families from various internet risks.
He hopes that Indonesia’s digital ecosystem in the future will be increasingly inclusive and provide equal opportunities for women to create, lead, and drive change.
“From the hands of great women will emerge innovation, creativity, and contributions for Indonesia’s future,” said Bonifasius.
