Komdigi Investigates IGRS Leak, Indonesia's Game Rating Process Under Full Scrutiny
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has responded to allegations of a leak in the Indonesia Game Rating System (IGRS) that surfaced a few days ago. Director of Digital Ecosystem Development, Sonny Hendra Sudaryana, stated that the ministry and relevant parties are conducting a thorough investigation process overall.
“To avoid assumptions circulating on social media or among friends, the current process is under full investigation. This includes aspects of policy, systems and processes, as well as tools and technology, up to organisation and human resources,” Sonny said during a press conference in Jakarta on Friday (17/4/2026).
“So we don’t want piecemeal results. That’s why this investigation is comprehensive, and we will report the outcomes. So there are no more assumptions,” he added.
The investigation will be conducted comprehensively, both internally and externally. This includes inviting industry parties, the Creative Economy sector, and the National Cyber and Crypto Agency.
However, he has not disclosed any information yet. He promised to update information periodically and proceed transparently.
“So, it’s comprehensive, not just us investigating alone, but most importantly involving our friends in the industry. Thus, the process is transparent. Nothing is hidden,” he explained.
Previously, clips from several games leaked due to suspicions that the IGRS system had been breached. This included James Bond 007: First Light, which was supposed to launch in late March but will now be released in May.
In addition, Echoes of Aincrad from Bandai Namco, as well as thousands of developer emails, leaked in the incident.
The IGRS is used to generate age ratings for game players for those developed or published in Indonesia, including foreign titles.
The rating process involves companies submitting content, including relevant clips. The leak likely originated from those clips, which also include important plot points and possibly ending sections.
