The future of Indonesia’s children is the most precious asset that must be safeguarded together. Every family harbours the hope that their children will grow up healthy, intelligent, and have a better future than the previous generation. This was conveyed by the Director of Public Communication at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), Nunik Purwanti, while attending a ‘wayang golek santri’ performance by puppeteer Ki Haryo Enhus Susmono in Parireja Village, Banjarharjo District, Brebes Regency, on Wednesday night. The ‘wayang santri’ performance, a collaboration between Komdigi and the Brebes Regency Government, featured interactive dialogue with the theme ‘Building Indonesia’s Golden Generation: A Healthy Body and Safety in the Digital Era’. Nunik stated that the challenges faced by parents today are different from the past; children can now explore various information and interact with anyone via the internet without leaving their rooms. Consequently, the government is encouraging parents to actively assist children in using technology appropriately. In addition to supporting the Free Nutritious Meal Programme to improve children’s health quality, the government has also issued Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025, known as PP Tunas, as a form of child protection in the digital space. Nunik explained that Brebes Regency was chosen as the activity location due to its significant potential and human resources capable of competing in the future. Vice Regent of Brebes, Wurja, stated that building the golden generation must begin with children’s health and nutritional adequacy, adding that a healthy body fosters a spirit of learning, creativity, and strong determination. Wurja appreciated Komdigi’s cultural approach of using the ‘wayang golek santri’ performance as a medium to convey messages that are more grounded and easily accepted by the public.
