JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Information and Digital (Komdigi) has finally examined Meta and Google regarding compliance with the implementation of Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP Tunas). “The platform parties in this case, Meta which oversees Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, as well as Google which has YouTube services, have fulfilled our second summons,” said the Director General of Digital Space Supervision, Alexander Sabar, during a press conference at the Komdigi Office in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/4/2026). Meta was examined yesterday, on Monday (6/4/2026), while Google is still being examined by Komdigi on Tuesday this day. Alex mentioned that there are 29 questions posed to those platform parties. However, Komdigi has not yet revealed in detail what was asked to the platform parties. “There are 29 questions that we submitted to delve into allegations of violations of the regulation that has been declared applicable in Indonesia,” said Alex. “This is currently underway; we are entering the supervision stage of the implementation of PP Tunas,” Alex concluded. The government has officially implemented Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP TUNAS). The regulation requires digital platforms to restrict children’s access according to age and strengthen child personal data protection. PP Tunas has been effectively enforced since 28 March 2026, and every digital platform entity operating digitally is obliged to comply with the provisions of that regulation. On Friday (27/3/2026), the Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, said that X and Bigo Live have complied with the implementation of PP Tunas by changing the rules in their applications. Meanwhile, there are four digital platforms that have not stated compliance with PP Tunas, namely YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. Meutya conveyed that there is no compromise for platforms that violate. The government is still waiting for compliance from those four applications.
