The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has confirmed its support for the Constitutional Court (MK) ruling regarding internet quotas. The government is continuing its oversight to ensure that mobile operators comply with the legally decided provisions.

Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital, Nezar Patria, stated that Komdigi will respond to the Constitutional Court’s decision through monitoring its implementation.

“Regarding internet quotas, there will be oversight. We are responding to what has been legally decided concerning those internet quotas,” Nezar told reporters in Jakarta on Thursday.

He noted that operator compliance is crucial following the ruling, expressing hope that all mobile operators will adhere to the applicable legal decisions.

Furthermore, Nezar emphasised that the supervision of the Constitutional Court’s decision will involve various stakeholders. Coordination and collaboration are required to ensure the decision is implemented optimally.

Previously, the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) asserted that it has requested telecommunications operators to comply with the Constitutional Court ruling, which mandates that operators provide telecommunications service options that guarantee users’ remaining quotas remain active and usable by 28 September 2026.

The Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, revealed that the implementation of the Constitutional Court’s decision has been highly anticipated by the public. She stated that the ministry has provided directions to mobile operators from the outset to follow and comply with the ruling.

According to the Minister, implementing this decision does not require new ministerial regulations, as the substance of the Constitutional Court’s ruling is deemed aligned with existing ministerial regulations. However, Komdigi has received complaints from the public that these provisions have not yet been fully implemented by operators.
