Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid stated that discussions with the digital platform Roblox are continuing regarding the platform’s commitment to maintaining a safe digital space for children in line with the implementation of PP Tunas in Indonesia. With intensive communication still ongoing, the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) hopes that Roblox’s full compliance with PP Tunas can be announced in the near future. “Roblox is still communicating and hopefully in the near future we can also see the same compliance,” Meutya said during a press conference on the progress of digital platform compliance with PP Tunas at the Kemkomdigi office in Jakarta on Wednesday. YouTube has also changed its community guidelines to emphasise that the digital platform will eliminate user accounts under 16 years old. Referring to the YouTube Help page in Indonesia, the commitment to comply with PP Tunas has been affirmed with the statement “If you are under 16 years old in Indonesia, access to your YouTube account may be disabled”. Before discussions with Roblox continued regarding compliance with PP Tunas, on Tuesday (14/4) the US-based gaming platform had made adjustments to age-based account restrictions by introducing Roblox Kids and Roblox Select. The Roblox Kids feature is specifically for users aged 5-12 years who have passed the technological age verification process. Meanwhile, Roblox Select is designated for users aged 13-15 years. According to Menkomdigi Meutya Hafid, this is a demand from parents in Indonesia to impose restrictions. “Although it has made quite a lot of adjustments, we cannot yet accept Roblox’s proposal stating that Roblox has complied (with PP Tunas). So it means not yet, we still assess that this is not yet in compliance with PP Tunas,” Meutya said on Tuesday (14/4) at Kemkomdigi.
