Komdigi Accelerates 900 MHz and 3.5 GHz Frequency Auctions, Here is the Schedule

The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) is planning to auction two additional frequency bands, 900 MHz and 3.5 GHz, after completing the selection process for the 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz spectrums.

“God willing, once this is finished, we will also prepare the process for utilising the 900 MHz frequency. So hopefully the auction can begin this year while we conduct a study on the 3.5 GHz band,” said Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid on Tuesday (21/7/2026).

Regarding the 3.5 GHz auction timeline, Meutya stated it would be considered further pending the completion of studies, particularly concerning the future utilisation of the spectrum.

Secretary General of Komdigi, Ismail, explained that the 3.5 GHz frequency requires study due to the shared use of the spectrum between mobile services and satellites.

Meanwhile, the 900 MHz band is free following its return by XLSmart after the merger of XL Axiata and Smartfren last year. “The 900 MHz is free because it was returned by XL during their merger process,” Ismail clarified. “For the 3.5 GHz, it is being studied technically to ensure the co-existence of mobile and satellite services,” he added.

Komdigi has today completed the selection process for the 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz bands. The winners are as follows:

700 MHz Frequency:

• XLSMART 30 MHz

• Telkomsel 20 MHz

• Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison 20 MHz

2.6 GHz Frequency:

• Telkomsel 80 MHz

• Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison 60 MHz

• XLSMART 50 MHz
