Metro Jaya Police publicly disclosed the reasons behind the detention of Richard Lee, a cosmetic doctor and influencer, in connection with alleged consumer protection violations. Detention followed completion of further questioning on Friday, 6 March 2026. The Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Police Commissioner Budi Hermanto, said the interview lasted four hours. “On Friday, 6 March 2026, suspect DRL was questioned from 13:00 WIB to 17:00 WIB. In this examination, 29 questions were asked,” Budi said. The detention was decided after investigators considered factors that could impede the investigation. He is reported to have failed to attend a previously scheduled additional examination. “Furthermore, based on the consideration of the suspect’s actions that could hinder the investigation, namely the suspect’s absence from the additional examination on 3 March 2026 without giving a clear explanation. On that day, the suspect was observed streaming live on TikTok,” he said. Additionally, investigators noted violations of the reporting duties previously imposed. “The suspect also failed to comply with mandatory reporting on Monday, 23 February 2026 and Thursday, 5 March 2026 without a clear reason,” he added. Based on these considerations, investigators ultimately decided to detain Richard Lee at the Metro Jaya detention centre on Friday night. “On this basis, the suspect DRL was detained at 21:50 at the Metro Jaya detention facility,” Budi said. Before the detention, Richard Lee underwent a health check by the police medical team. “Before the detention, the suspect underwent a health check by the Polda Metro Jaya Medical Department including blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and body temperature with normal results, and he was able to carry out normal activities,” he added. Furthermore, all of the suspect’s personal belongings not related to the investigation were handed over to his legal counsel. “Before the detention, the suspect’s personal belongings not related to the evidentiary process were deposited with the legal counsel,” he said.
