Kolaka sends 25 locals to study in China to forge superior human resources
Kolaka (ANTARA) - The Kolaka Regency Government, Southeast Sulawesi, has dispatched 25 local residents to study Mandarin and delve into work ethics directly in China, as an effort to forge superior and globally competitive human resources. Kolaka Regent Amri, met in Kolaka on Friday, stated that this programme represents the local government’s commitment to improving the quality of the local workforce amidst the rapid pace of investment and industrialisation in the region’s mining sector. “We are in the midst of rapid investment development. The need for workers with international competence will increasingly be in demand in the times to come,” Amri said during the departure ceremony for the Mandarin language programme participants in Kolaka. He explained that the dispatched participants were the result of a rigorous selection process from around 200 applicants who passed various stages, from academic selection and interviews to health tests. He explained that this programme is funded through a collaboration between the Kolaka Regency regional budget and Corporate Social Responsibility funds from PT Indonesia Pomalaa Industry Park. The local government allocated approximately Rp672 million through the regional budget to finance the living expenses of these local sons and daughters for six months in China. “This uses regional budget funds, this is the people’s money coming back to you as the people. I hope this can be accounted for properly by safeguarding the good name of your families and the region,” he said.
