KOKAM Applauds Hoegeng Awards 2026 as a Model for Police Officers
The National Commander of KOKAM (Command for Youth Preparedness of Muhammadiyah) of the Muhammadiyah Youth Council, Elli Oschar, has applauded the staging of the Hoegeng Awards 2026. In his view, the award ceremony for exemplary police officers brings forth figures of ‘modern heroes’ within Polri whilst also motivating police personnel to continue serving the public.
“I believe that through events like this, it rekindles the spirit of Polri in the regions, knowing that their dedication receives great recognition from the Indonesian National Police. And that becomes an uswah — an example, a role model within the ranks of the Indonesian National Police. This is very good indeed as an example,” said Elli after attending the Hoegeng Awards at The Tribrata Darmawangsa, South Jakarta, on Friday (31/7/2026).
Elli considered the staging of the Hoegeng Awards important as a means of giving appreciation to Polri members who work with full dedication, particularly those serving in various regions. According to him, such recognition can serve as encouragement whilst also giving rise to more exemplary police figures.
He also expressed hope that the Hoegeng Awards will continue to be held in the years to come. The Muhammadiyah Youth Council, Elli said, supports the National Police Chief’s efforts to present role models for the police institution through the award.
“Our hope is that we at Pemuda Muhammadiyah greatly appreciate what the National Police Chief has done today. The Hoegeng Awards, I believe, present modern heroes. General Hoegeng, who was known for being firmly anti-corruption, has been brought back to life today by the National Police Chief,” he said.
According to Elli, the values inherited from General Hoegeng — such as integrity, honesty, and dedication in serving the public — must continue to be upheld and emulated by all Polri members.
“And that is the hope for all Polri members, that they remain dedicated among the community,” he concluded.
