Koeswanto's Retirement: Calm and Productive
In the morning in Banjarsari Kulon village, Sumbang District, the day arrived like a prayer whispered without hurry. Koeswanto, 63, begins that moment with gratitude, thankful to still be alive and to be able to retire peacefully while continuing to contribute. Besides tending a small garden, his routine as a retired civil servant also includes looking after the fish in his pond and running a small convenience store.
“I have activities after retirement. I live in a village and there’s a little piece of land I can turn into a pond… In front of the house there’s also a river whose water flows well… So, we built several ponds,” he explains about his days after retirement.
As retirement approached he already had plans. One of them was to live a peaceful life accompanied by the murmur of the river and the cool rural air. Other plans were already there but still unclear. “I already have plans but they are not well directed yet.”
The plan is how he can remain productive and continue to create after retirement. This, he believes, is important because pension money is not large. “The civil servant pension isn’t much,” he says.
Life in retirement
To him, retirement life is not easy. It requires measured preparation and a not-insignificant capital. “When we retire, I’m sure every civil servant needs funds for retirement preparation and for family needs,” he says.
This may make him fortunate because he could get to know Bank Mantap. Initially he admits, before retirement he never thought a collaboration with Bank Mantap would exist.
“But at the end of the service, after an outreach from Bank Mantap, I changed; it meant I had hopes that after retirement I would have business activities,” he explains.
For him, Bank Mantap is like a compass. It guides and shows the life goals after retirement. “Previously I had no picture or desire. With Bank Mantap, I became motivated, and I already thought about what I would do later,” he says.
The existence of the Bank Mantap loan programme made everything clear and bright. The step to navigate retirement was no longer hesitant.
“Bank Mantap feels very present, in quotes, like a Deity of Help, meaning when someone needs capital, Bank Mantap is there,” he says.
Attracting factor
One of the things he is grateful for in life is knowing Bank Mantap. “Before I knew Bank Mantap, I hadn’t thought about it. Early 2025 I only got to know Bank Mantap. Once I knew and was close to it, I retired in April 2025,” he says.
One thing that drew him to and solidified the partnership with Bank Mantap is integrity, courtesy, and excellent service.
“So Bank Mantap is very clearly a partner in retirement. Bank Mantap truly matters a lot to me,” he emphasises.
For Bank Mantap he asks it to continue consistently helping many people to retire calmly and safely. Like a compass, Bank Mantap guides them to the destination safely and without getting lost…
