Kodim Rejang Lebong completes construction of two suspension bridges

Rejang Lebong, Bengkulu (ANTARA) - The District Military Command (Kodim) 0409/Rejang Lebong in Bengkulu has completed the construction of two Garuda Pioneer Suspension Bridges located in two subdistricts of Rejang Lebong Regency.

Commander of Kodim 0409/Rejang Lebong Lieutenant Colonel Agung Lewis Oktorada said in Rejang Lebong on Friday that the second suspension bridge to be completed is located in Lubuk Bingin Baru village, Sindang Beliti Ilir subdistrict.

“Thank God, construction of the second Garuda Pioneer Suspension Bridge has been completed; this bridge is in Lubuk Bingin Baru village, Sindang Beliti Ilir subdistrict,” he said.

He explained that the suspension bridge in Lubuk Bingin Baru is the second location, after the Garuda Pioneer Suspension Bridge in Dwi Tunggal village, Curup subdistrict, was completed earlier and is already being used by residents.

The suspension bridge in Lubuk Bingin Baru, he said, measures 60 metres long and 1.2 metres wide. The infrastructure was built to ease local residents’ transport access to plantation areas and neighbouring villages.

“This bridge provides access for 341 families, or around 621 residents, in that village. They are now enjoying its benefits,” he said.

According to him, before the bridge was built, residents had to cross the river with great caution due to its strong currents. During the rainy season especially, the rising river discharge made the area completely impassable.

The commander hopes that the completion of the two suspension bridges will help facilitate residents’ mobility, both for transporting agricultural produce and for interaction between villages.

In addition to completing the suspension bridge, Kodim 0409/Rejang Lebong is currently finishing the construction of four concrete bridges spread across several subdistricts in Rejang Lebong Regency.
