Kodim 0723/Klaten Holds Corn Harvest to Support National Food Self-Sufficiency
The Klaten Military District Command (Kodim 0723/Klaten) conducted a corn harvest on a production company plot in Karangan Village, Karanganom District, Klaten, on Thursday (18/6). The activity underscores Kodim 0723/Klaten’s commitment to supporting the government’s national food security programme. The R7 corn harvest represents a tangible contribution by the Indonesian Army towards achieving food self-sufficiency, particularly for corn, in the Klaten region. The harvest area spanned 3,200 square metres and yielded approximately two tonnes. The R7 corn variety had been planted on the Kodim 0723/Klaten production company’s land since March 2026. The harvest was attended by Production Company Commander Captain Cpl Tri Joko, Territorial Officer Captain Inf Eka Atmaja, Rayon Military Command 14/Karanganom Commander Captain Inf Maskat, and Kodim Klaten personnel. Captain Cpl Tri Joko stated that utilising productive land for corn cultivation is a strategic step in supporting the food security programme. The harvest in Karangan Village serves as a learning tool and example for the community on optimising available land. “This harvest is the result of our hard work and commitment to managing the unit’s productive land. We hope this activity can continue,” he said. According to Tri Joko, the R7 corn yield from the Kodim 0723/Klaten production company’s land was quite good, and he expressed hope that such planting activities would continue. “This corn harvest by the Kodim 0723/Klaten production company makes a real contribution to increasing food production, particularly corn, in Klaten,” he added. Meanwhile, Territorial Officer Captain Inf Eka Atmaja stated that Kodim 0723/Klaten’s involvement in the agricultural sector is an implementation of its territorial development duties. The agricultural sector plays a crucial role in maintaining economic stability and food availability, hence the programme to utilise productive land must be encouraged. “This R7 corn harvest on the Kodim 0723/Klaten production company’s land is proof that optimal land use can yield productive benefits for the community,” he added.
