Kodim 0203/Langkat completes bridge connecting three villages
The Langkat Military Command (Kodim 0203/Langkat) has completed the construction of a concrete bridge connecting three villages located in the Salapian District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra.
“The bridge connects Tambunan Plantation Village with Pamah Tambunan Village and Ujung Bandar Village, Salapian District,” stated Colonel Inf Sandy, spokesperson for the I/Bukit Barisan Kodim, in Medan on Thursday.
Sandy noted that the bridge, measuring eight metres in length and three metres in width, is now ready for public use to support the mobility and economic activities of the residents.
Furthermore, the construction of the bridge aligns with the initiatives and ideas of President Prabowo Subianto, which emphasise the importance of accelerating infrastructure development in remote villages to improve community welfare.
“The presence of this bridge is expected to provide better access, strengthen inter-regional connectivity, and support the economic growth of the community in Salapian District,” he said.
According to the spokesperson, the bridge construction was carried out by personnel from the Koramil 05/Salapian (Langkat Military Command) alongside community leaders (Babinsa) and local residents through a collaborative ‘gotong royong’ effort.
During the construction process, personnel performed tasks including pouring the bridge floor, constructing retaining walls, installing safety railings, and finishing with the painting of ornaments in red and white colours.
In addition to enhancing the bridge’s appearance, the installation of safety railings and the Indonesian national flag (Merah Putih) around the site serves as a symbol of national spirit and the unity between the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces) and the community.
“With the completion of this construction, access for residents becomes safer and more comfortable, thereby supporting educational activities, the distribution of plantation products, as well as the social and economic activities of the community in the region,” he added.
He stated that the TNI’s involvement in infrastructure development is part of their service to the community and a tangible manifestation of the unity between the TNI and the people.
“The synergy between the TNI, local government, and the community is expected to continue accelerating development and providing direct benefits for the welfare of the citizens,” he concluded.
