Kodam XXVI/Mataram to be Constructed in Godean, Sleman, Near DIY Regional Police Headquarters
The XXVI/Mataram Military Regional Command (Kodam XXVI/Mataram) is planned to be built in Godean, Sleman. The location is situated near the new DIY Regional Police Headquarters (Polda DIY).
“The information is that it will be in Sidoluhur, Godean, an area that was previously surveyed,” explained the Head of Information for Korem 072/Pamungkas, Major Inf Suwito, when contacted by journalists on Tuesday (6/10/2026).
“This means it is also close to the Police Headquarters. From Godean Market, if you head south and turn left, we would be the right turn. It is in the Sidoluhur area, if I am not mistaken,” he added.
Suwito admitted he does not yet know the specific details regarding the total land area for the construction of Kodam XXVI/Mataram. However, he noted that the land used is Sultan Ground and the land acquisition process has been completed.
Before selecting Sidoluhur Godean as the location for Kodam XXVI/Mataram, several Sultan Ground sites in Bantul, Kulon Progo, and Sleman were surveyed.
“That is correct, Sultan Ground. As for the area, I do not know the exact size as I did not participate in the survey. I believe that location is indeed suitable, because finding suitable land within Yogyakarta city is impossible,” Suwito explained.
“The acquisition was completed recently. The location was designated by Ngarso Dalem (the Governor of DIY), who pointed out that specific area. It is Ngarso Dalem’s land,” he added.
Regarding the construction plans for Kodam XXVI/Mataram, Suwito stated he is not yet certain when construction will commence or how much budget has been allocated for this project.
“As for the start date, we cannot be certain yet. It depends on the government budget,” he explained.
Furthermore, Suwito noted that with the establishment of Kodam XXVI/Mataram, Korem 072/Pamungkas will officially separate from Kodam IV/Diponegoro in Semarang.
“The creation of the organizational structure for Kodam XXVI/Mataram will be gradual. It will not be completed all at once; it is a process that will unfold over time,” he concluded.
Kodam XXVI/Mataram is one of six Kodams inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto during the 81st Anniversary ceremony of the TNI on Monday (5/10). On that occasion, the President also inaugurated 204 new TNI units.
As reported by detikNews, the inauguration took place at the Prima Field of the TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Monday (5/10). With the addition of these new units, the Indonesian Army (TNI AD) now possesses 27 Kodams spread across Indonesia. President Prabowo aims for every province to have its own Kodam.
“With the recitation of Bismillah this morning, Monday, 5 October 2026, by the grace of God Almighty, I, Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, hereby inaugurate 204 new TNI units,” said Prabowo.
