Kodam XIV collaborates with Sulsel Provincial Government on RLH/RTLH construction
The collaboration represents a tangible manifestation of the TNI’s presence alongside local government in addressing community hardships. Makassar (ANTARA) - Kodam XIV/Hasanuddin and the South Sulawesi Provincial Government have agreed to cooperate on building habitable houses (RLH) and rehabilitating uninhabitable houses (RTLH) for low-income communities. The agreement was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) by Commander of Kodam XIV/Hasanuddin, Major General TNI Bangun Nawoko, and the Secretary of the South Sulawesi Provincial Government, Jufri Rahman, at Baruga Asta Cita, the Governor’s Official Residence, Jalan Sungai Tangka, Makassar, on Saturday. The Commander stated that a nation’s strength is not determined solely by military aspects but by broader factors. “When discussing a country’s defence, there are three important aspects: the size of the defence budget, with whom we forge relations, and professionalism. However, Indonesia possesses a greater strength, namely the unity of the TNI and the spirit of unity and oneness in the universal people’s defence system,” he said. The programme, the Commander continued, will focus on repairing uninhabitable houses and constructing new homes for communities affected by disasters. “We need programmes that directly touch people’s lives. This aligns closely with the TNI’s duty to assist the people in their surroundings,” he added. In addition to the housing programme, Kodam XIV/Hasanuddin is also implementing infrastructure development in the form of pioneer bridges in various regions. Up to the first phase, 16 bridges have been built, and in the subsequent phase, around 337 additional bridges are planned. Meanwhile, Jufri hopes that this cooperation can improve the quality of housing for low-income communities in South Sulawesi and that implementation in the field runs optimally. “This collaboration will strengthen the synergy between the TNI and local government in building community welfare,” he said.
