Kodam XII/Tpr strengthens West Kalimantan forest fire task force
Kodam XII/Tanjungpura is strengthening the handling of forest and land fires (karhutla) in West Kalimantan by deploying additional personnel from the Yonif TP 538/PTA task force to support rapid response in a number of affected areas.
“Today we are briefing 250 personnel as part of strengthening the TNI element in facing the potential for, and handling of, forest and land fires in West Kalimantan,” said Pangdam XII/Tanjungpura Major General TNI Novi Rubadi Sugito in Sungai Raya on Sunday.
Novi asked all personnel to carry out their duties with sincerity, discipline and responsibility, while prioritising safety while in the field.
“Carry out your duties with sincerity, discipline and a sense of responsibility,” he said.
He also stressed the importance of coordination and synergy with all elements involved in handling forest and land fires.
According to him, conditions in the field present various challenges, so cooperation is needed to resolve every problem quickly and precisely.
“Personnel must understand the various conditions and problems faced in handling forest and land fires, including obstacles in the field, so that every problem can be faced and resolved together,” he said.
The additional personnel will join the task force and be stationed in a number of designated areas to support firefighting, prevention and handling of the impacts of forest and land fires.
With this additional strength, the TNI hopes that preparedness and rapid response capabilities in dealing with forest and land fires in West Kalimantan will improve, so that the potential for fires to spread can be suppressed.
After giving the briefing, Pangdam XII/Tpr and his entourage inspected the Public Kitchen of Yonif TP 882/Hulubalang to ensure the readiness of logistical support and personnel needs during the execution of duties.
The personnel reinforcement is part of the TNI’s commitment to assist local government and related elements in handling forest and land fires quickly and in a coordinated manner, as well as minimising their impact on the community and the environment.
