Bandarlampung - Kodam XXI/Raden Inten states that the Indonesian Army (TNI AD) ranks are continuously accelerating the development of bridge infrastructure and innovations in food security to enhance the welfare of communities in remote areas of Lampung Province.

“The TNI is committed to being present among the people to provide real solutions, both through the construction of transportation access and the strengthening of the food sector,” said Commander of Kodam (Pangdam) XXI/Raden Inten, Major General TNI Kristomei Sianturi, in Bandarlampung on Monday.

He explained that the Kodam XXI/Raden Inten ranks have successfully completed several strategic bridge projects with efficient construction durations.

“One of them is the Sukoharjo Bridge in Pringsewu, completed in one month, and the Kulumbayan Bridge, finished in just seven days,” he said.

According to Pangdam Radin Inten, his side is currently rushing the construction of two additional bridges, including in the Way Hulu area, South Lampung Regency.

“This development is focused on breaking inter-village isolation and facilitating access to education for schoolchildren and the distribution of agricultural produce. Good infrastructure access is the key driver of village economies, so if distribution runs smoothly, community welfare will automatically improve,” he said.

“We are also collaborating with a professor from a university in Salatiga to ensure this food security programme is based on strong research.”

According to him, the research is projected to produce rice productivity of 10 to 15 tonnes per hectare. This figure is a significant increase compared to the current average harvest of communities, which is still around 5 to 7 tonnes per hectare.

“If the potential of 15 tonnes per hectare is achieved, Lampung will become a very strong food barn,” explained Pangdam.

He added that the TNI’s involvement in food and infrastructure affairs is a preventive effort to maintain regional security stability, as national stability greatly depends on meeting the basic needs of the community.

“Therefore, we ask all soldiers in the field to work professionally and maintain integrity by not accepting any form of reward from the community,” he said.
