Ambon (ANTARA) - The Naval Regional Command (Kodaeral) IX Ambon provided free healthcare services to the community as part of the 2026 Sovereign Rupiah Expedition (ERB) mission on Kur Island, Tual City, Maluku.

Commander of Kodaeral IX Ambon, Rear Admiral TNI Hanarko Djodi Pamungkas, stated in Ambon on Friday that the activity represents a tangible expression of the Indonesian Navy’s concern for public health in remote island areas, while also supporting the smooth implementation of national strategic programmes through ERB.

“This programme is important because access to healthcare services on the outermost islands remains limited. The presence of our medical team is expected to help the community obtain proper medical care and improve their quality of life,” he said.

He added that the activity also forms part of the synergy between the Indonesian Navy and Bank Indonesia in strengthening national sovereignty, both in terms of public health and the distribution and understanding of the rupiah currency.

The Kodaeral IX medical team, consisting of Lieutenant (N/W) Gina Melawati Agustina, Sergeant APM/W Meilania, and Class APM Ikhwan, arrived on Kur Island using KRI Dorang-874 from the Patrol Unit (Satrol) of Kodaeral IX, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel (P) Eko Hadi Suwarno, along with 15 personnel from the 2026 ERB Bank Indonesia team.

During the social service, the medical team treated at least 60 patients from Kur Island residents with various complaints, including acute respiratory tract infections (ISPA), osteoarthritis, hypertension, dermatitis, dyspepsia, and headaches.

Meanwhile, the 2026 ERB Bank Indonesia team at the same location opened rupiah currency exchange services, Love, Pride, and Understanding (CBP) Rupiah education, and CBP education partnership programmes with Mainyo Ambassadors on each island. Additionally, ERB signage was installed as a symbol of the rupiah’s presence on Kur Island.

In addition to healthcare services and financial education, Kodaeral IX conducted social communication through state defence education and coastal disaster preparedness, held at the Kur Island Sub-District Hall.

The Kodaeral Commander emphasised that this integrated activity is expected to provide direct benefits to the community while strengthening the resilience of coastal and outermost island areas.

“Through this activity, we want to ensure that the state is present in the foremost, outermost, and most underdeveloped regions,” he said.
