Ko Erwin Shot During Flight to Malaysia; Drug Trafficker Implicated in AKBP Didik Bribery Scandal Arrives at Police Headquarters with Leg Injury
Jakarta – The escape of drug trafficker Erwin Iskandar, known as Ko Erwin, has come to an end. The fugitive, suspected of paying billions of rupiah to former Bima City Police Chief AKBP Didik Putra Kuncoro, is now at the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate (Bareskrim Polri) headquarters in Jakarta, with a gunshot wound to his leg.
Ko Erwin was arrested by the Narcotics Directorate Investigation Team (Dittipid Narkoba) of Bareskrim Polri in Tanjung Balai, North Sumatra, on the previous day. The following day, at approximately 11.35 WIB, he arrived at Bareskrim handcuffed and limping.
Previously, police were forced to disable Ko Erwin with a controlled gunshot to his leg because he attempted to flee and resisted arrest. He was apprehended alongside two others suspected of assisting his escape to Malaysia. Police affirmed that the forceful action was taken due to his resistance.
“The attempted flight and resistance during apprehension (were reasons for shooting Erwin’s leg),” stated Komisaris Besar Polisi Handik Zusen, Head of Subdivision IV of Dittipid Narkoba Bareskrim Polri, on Friday, 27 February 2026.
Ko Erwin had been listed as a wanted fugitive just one day before his arrest. A wanted person notice had been circulated throughout police ranks, and the combined team successfully traced his location as he attempted to flee the country.
During the arrest operation, police also secured two individuals with initials A, alias G, and R, alias K. Both are suspected of assisting Ko Erwin’s escape plan.
Erwin is an Indonesian citizen born in Makassar on 30 May 1969. He has four different addresses across Nusa Tenggara Barat and South Sulawesi. According to police records, his distinguishing features include a height of 167 centimetres, weight of 85 kilograms, short straight black hair, and a brown complexion.
The arrest was carried out by the combined team of Subdivision IV and the NIC Task Force of the Narcotics Directorate of Bareskrim Polri. This information was confirmed by Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, Head of Dirtipid Narkoba Bareskrim Polri.
