KNKT Still Collecting Data on Train Accident in East Bekasi
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) is still collecting data related to the train accident in East Bekasi, West Java, some time ago, which killed 16 people.
“So we are still gathering data in the field and there are several tests that we must carry out on the signalling, the crossing, and then the communication, we are collecting the data. There is still a lot of data we need to collect and there are still several people we need to interview,” said KNKT Chair Soerjanto Tjahjono in Jakarta on Wednesday.
According to him, the train has CCTV, there is data like its black box, and later it will depend on the evaluation results from that data whether KNKT needs to request confirmation or further statements from those related to the matter.
KNKT is also collecting data at the location where the Commuter Line train hit the electric taxi.
“Some data we have already obtained but we also need to clarify again with the driver, if the electric taxi has a black box, we are downloading it. Later after we evaluate, we will ask again the driver or people around there what happened to that electric taxi,” said Soerjanto Tjahjono.
Soerjanto Tjahjono said all parties are cooperative in providing statements to KNKT.
“Cooperative. There is no, no hindrance if we ask for statements,” he said.
For information, Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has asked the public to wait for the results of the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) investigation regarding the cause of the train accident in East Bekasi, West Java.
He urged the public and all related parties to wait for the KNKT investigation which will provide comprehensive results regarding the cause of the accident up to safety recommendations.
According to him, KNKT is still conducting the investigation process into the electric train (KRL) accident with the Argo Bromo Anggrek train at East Bekasi Station on Monday, 27 April 2026.
KNKT has conducted a simulation of the train signalling system as part of the post-incident investigation into the electric rail train (KRL) and KA Argo Bromo Anggrek accident at East Bekasi Station.
The signalling simulation was carried out to understand possible technical causes, particularly related to the function and response of the signalling system during the incident. To date, other investigation processes are still being carried out by KNKT.
