Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) has revealed that the investigation process into the train accident involving KA Argo Bromo Anggrek and the KRL Commuter Line on the Kampung Bandan-Cikarang route at Bekasi Timur Station on 27 April 2026 is still ongoing, with the team currently gathering data related to the incident.

KNKT Chair Soerjanto Tjahjono stated that the investigation is currently in the stage of collecting data from the field and testing the signalling on the route, which is still underway.

“Currently, we are still collecting data from the field and there are also several tests that we must conduct on the signalling, on the route, and on communications as to what happened. So we are still gathering the data; there is still a lot to collect,” said Soerjanto when met by reporters at the RI House of Representatives Building, Wednesday (13/5/2026).

In addition, several parties are still being asked for statements by KNKT to strengthen the investigation evidence. However, the details of how many parties have been questioned were not disclosed.

“There are also still some people we need to interview, depending on the results of observations from CCTV footage around the accident scene, as well as data such as the black box, and then depending on the evaluation of that data, whether we need confirmation or further statements from people related to the matter,” he continued.

Meanwhile, regarding the taxi that was one of the causes of the accident, the team is also still delving into the related data and hearing statements from the taxi driver.

“Regarding the taxi, we have requested the data, and we have obtained it. But we also need to clarify again with the driver. Later, if there is data from the taxi vehicle, there is also something like a black box; we are downloading it now. After we evaluate it, we will ask again the driver or people around what happened with that taxi, so that it got stuck on the tracks,” he explained.

Unfortunately, Soerjanto could not yet confirm when the investigation results could be announced to the public because they are still delving into the investigation and gathering supporting data.

“The target for announcing the investigation results cannot yet be confirmed because there is still data that needs to be analysed and evaluated, and that data is also still in the process of being downloaded. Because some of the data being downloaded is quite difficult,” he said.
