An incident involving a train collision between the long-distance Argo Bromo Anggrek train and a KRL Commuter Line train at Bekasi Timur Station in Bekasi City is under investigation. The National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) has revealed that an investigation team has been deployed to the site.

“The KNKT investigation team has been at the incident location since last night,” said the Head of the KNKT Public Relations Team, Anggo Anurogo, as reported by the Antara news agency on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

The investigation team arrived at the accident site on Monday night (27/4). Anggo stated that the team was deployed to gather information directly from the field.

“The KNKT investigation team has been at the incident location since last night to collect facts and information from the field,” he said.

KNKT to Investigate the Cause

It was previously known that the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) would involve KNKT in this incident. KNKT will trace the exact cause of the collision.

“We are also giving KNKT the opportunity to conduct an investigation and objectively examine the cause of the accident that occurred last night,” said Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi at Bekasi Timur Station in Bekasi City on Tuesday (28/4).

Suspected Cause

On the same occasion, PT KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin conveyed preliminary identification results indicating that the collision was initiated by an incident where a green taxi became stuck on the KRL crossing near Bekasi Timur Station. This is suspected to have caused a disruption at the crossing.

“I would like to inform you that this incident occurred just before 9:00 p.m. WIB, starting with a green taxi becoming stuck at JPL 85. This is what we suspect disrupted the railway system in the Bekasi Timur station platform area. That is the chronology for now,” Bobby explained.

On the other hand, Bobby is still awaiting in-depth results from KNKT regarding the exact cause of the collision.

“Of course, we leave it to KNKT to investigate in more detail the cause of this train accident last night,” he said.

7 People Dead, 81 Injured

As reported at 06:34 a.m. this morning, seven passengers died in this train accident. Meanwhile, 81 people were reported to have sustained injuries.

“The number of casualties from last night: 7 dead and 81 injured being treated,” Bobby revealed.
