KNKT: 3 Minutes 43 Seconds Between Taxi–KRL Collision and Argo Bromo Anggrek–KRL Collision
The National Transport Safety Committee (KNKT) has revealed the interval between the incident in which a taxi was struck on an at‑grade crossing by a KRL and the collision between the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and a KRL at Bekasi Timur Station.
KNKT head Soerjanto Tjahjono explained that initially, at 20:33 WIB, Commuter Line train 5568 arrived and stopped on Track 6 at Bekasi Station.
Then, from 20:34 to 20:38, Sawunggalih train arrived and stopped on Track 3 at Bekasi Station for boarding and alighting.
“Next, train 116 (Sawunggalih) departed Bekasi Station via Track 3 heading east,” Soerjanto said at a meeting with Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives, on Thursday (21/5).
Then at 20:45, Commuter Line train 5568 departed Bekasi Station towards Bekasi Timur Station.
Then at 20:48, 5568 entered and stopped at Bekasi Timur on Track 1.
On another track, a collision occurred between another Commuter Train and a taxi.
“At 20:48:29 there was a collision between train 5181 Commuter Line and a four-wheeled motor vehicle at the Bekasi Timur downstream track,” he said.
After boarding/alighting, train 5568 moved a short distance of about 1.69 metres. The train stopped because the driver observed a crowd on the upstream track.
Behind it, around 20:50:43, the Argo Bromo Anggrek train proceeded straight on Track 3 at Bekasi Station with the signal at J12 green, or displaying a green aspect.
Two minutes later, the Argo Bromo Anggrek train collided with the stationary 5568.
“So at 20:52:12 there was the collision, that is, the collision between 5181 and the taxi and the time gap before the Argo Bromo Anggrek collision with the Commuter Line 5568 of about 3 minutes 43 seconds. So indeed the interval between the 5181 taxi collision and the Argo Bromo collision is 3 minutes 43 seconds,” he said.
