NEW YORK (Reuter): Hubert Davis had 21 points and Patrick Ewing scored 15 with 11 rebounds and six blocks leading the New York Knicks to a 115-87 win over the Miami Heat, for their 15th straight triumph on Saturday.
The streak is the second-longest in franchise history, surpassed only by an 18-game streak in 1969-70.
The Knicks trailed, 38-36 midway through the second quarter before embarking on an 18-9 run to close the half with a 56-47 lead.
Miami was led by Harold Miner's 15 points.
In Washington, Don MacLean scored 29 points, leading the Washington Bullets to a 104-96 win over the Milwaukee Bucks in the battle to avoid the Eastern Conference's worst record.
The win moved Washington two games ahead of the Bucks, who fell to 19-52.
The Bucks have dropped 12 of their last 14 overall and nine straight on the road.
At Utah, Karl Malone had 31 points and 12 rebounds and the Utah Jazz defeated the Denver Nuggets, 101-91, for just their second win in the last nine games.
Malone scored 17 points in the first half to help the Jazz build a 55-44 lead at intermission.
In Dallas, Mark Price scored 24 points and John Williams added 23 points and 18 rebounds as the Cleveland Cavaliers handed the Dallas Mavericks their 17th consecutive defeat, 95-88.
Doug Smith led Dallas with 23 points. Jim Jackson scored 22 for the Mavs.
At Indiana, Indiana got a season-high 38 points from Reggie Miller and Byron Scott had seven points during a key third- quarter run as the Pacers got by the Orlando Magic, 128-113.
Scott keyed a 17-8 run that closed the third quarter, giving Indiana a 94-82 lead. The Magic got no closer than eight points the rest of the way. Shaquille O'Neal led the Magic with 36 points.
In San Antonio, David Robinson scored 24 points and Vinny Del Nelgro scored six points in a 17-2 Spurs' third-quarter run as San Antonio beat the Charlotte Hornets, 117-111, for their sixth straight win.
Charlotte was tied with San Antonio at 62 apiece at the 7:52 mark of the third quarter before a 17-2 spurt by the Spurs gave them a 79-64 advantage with three minutes left in the period.
In Sacramento, Wayman Tisdale scored 15 of his 24 points in the first quarter as the Sacramento Kings leaped out to an early lead and cruised to a 102-87 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Kings snapped their six-game losing streak and won for just the second time in their last nine home games.
In Seattle, Shawn Kemp scored 32 points to help the Seattle SuperSonics run their winning streak to nine games with a 119-109 triumph over the Golden State Warriors.
Sam Perkins had 19 and Kendall Gill added 18 for the Sonics, who ran their league-best record to 54-17. Results
